Cookie Policy

Last updated: 5 October, 2024

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, how Johnny Nel Global Growth Partnership uses them, the types of cookies we use, and how you can manage your cookie preferences. It is compliant with data protection regulations in the US (CCPA), UK (UK-GDPR), EU (GDPR), and South Africa (POPIA).

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small pieces of data sent from a website and stored on a user's browser. They serve a variety of purposes, such as improving user experience by remembering your preferences or allowing websites to track and analyze your behavior for better performance and marketing purposes.

2. Types of Cookies We Use

Johnny Nel Global Growth Partnership uses the following types of cookies on its website:

  • Essential Cookies: These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off. They are usually set in response to actions you take that constitute a request for services, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in, or filling out forms.
  • Performance Cookies: These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources, helping us understand how visitors interact with our website. All information collected by these cookies is aggregated and therefore anonymous.
  • Functionality Cookies: These cookies enable the website to provide enhanced functionality and personalization. They may be set by us or third-party providers whose services we have added to our pages. If you do not allow these cookies, some of the functionalities may not work correctly.
  • Targeting Cookies: These cookies may be set by advertising partners to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant ads on other sites. They do not store directly identifiable personal information but work by uniquely identifying your browser and internet device.

3. Cookies We Use

Here is a list of specific cookies we use, their purpose, and how long they will be active.

3a. Video Engagement Tracking & Resume Playback

On pages that host our sales or welcome videos (including /blueprint and /confirmed), we use the following to measure engagement and let you resume playback where you left off:

  • Visitor ID cookie (pg_vid): a first-party, randomly generated identifier stored for up to 12 months. It is not linked to your name or email and is used solely to correlate video engagement events (play, pause, 25/50/75/100% milestones, completion) for the same browser.
  • Resume-playback data: we store your last watched timestamp and percentage in your browser's localStorage (key prefix pg_vprog:) so you can pick up where you stopped. This data stays on your device.
  • Server-side view log: by default we record video engagement events on our server together with a hashed (SHA-256) version of your IP address, your IP address, user agent, referrer, and visitor ID. This lets us verify viewership and detect abuse. You can stop this server-side logging by switching off analytics cookies in the cookie banner or preference centre.

If you choose to disable analytics cookies, no further server-side view log is written and no analytics tracking events are sent from that point on. Resume-playback data stored locally in your browser is retained only until you clear your site data.

4. Cookie Expiration Information

  • Session cookies: These cookies are temporary and are deleted from your device once your browser is closed.
  • Persistent cookies: These remain on your device for a set period or until manually deleted. The expiration period for these cookies is specified in the cookie table above.

5. Consent Model — Active by Default

Important: non-essential cookies and tracking technologies on this site (functional, analytics, advertising, and unclassified categories) are active by default from the first time you load a page. This means our video player, analytics, and advertising pixels will start working as soon as the page opens, before you take any action on the cookie banner.

When you visit the site for the first time, a cookie banner appears so you can review what we use and choose how you would like to be tracked. You can:

  • Accept All — confirm the default and dismiss the banner.
  • Reject All — turn off every non-essential category. From that point on, no analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking will run for you in this browser.
  • Customize — switch individual categories on or off.

Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage and is honoured on every subsequent visit until you clear your site data. You can change your preferences at any time by re-opening the cookie preference centre or by contacting us. Where applicable law (such as GDPR, CCPA, or POPIA) requires prior opt-in consent for any specific category in your jurisdiction, you remain free to exercise your rights through the same banner and the data-subject contact channels listed in our Privacy and POPIA policies.

6. Cookie Preference Management

You can manage your cookie preferences by:

  • Adjusting the settings directly in the cookie preference center on our website.
  • Changing browser settings to block or delete cookies (instructions below).

8. Consequences of Disabling Cookies

9. Third-Party Services

We use third-party services such as Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel, which also set cookies. These third parties have their own privacy policies governing the use of your data.

11. Do Not Track (DNT)

We do not currently respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals sent by browsers. However, you can opt-out of third-party tracking through our cookie preference center.

12. Rights for California Residents (CCPA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to:

  • Opt-out of the sale of personal data. We do not sell personal data for monetary gain but may share data for advertising and marketing purposes.
  • Access or delete your data: You have the right to request access to or deletion of your personal information.

13. Children's Privacy

Our services are not intended for users under the age of 13 (or 16 in some jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us to have the information removed.

14. Security of Your Data

While we take reasonable precautions to protect the personal information you share with us, including using encryption and secure storage methods, we cannot be held liable for any unauthorized access, data loss, or hacking incidents involving third-party services. You acknowledge that you provide your personal information at your own risk.
